Many people have a misconception that having cupping done on certain days of the month is prohibited in Islam. This misconception is due to some ahadith which mentions the prohibition of having cupping done on certain days. However, most of the scholars of Hadith have indicated to them not being authentic in their attribution to the Holy Prophet Sallallaahu Alayhi Wa Sallam. Mentioned hereunder are a few narrations regarding the same:
Imam Malik was asked regarding Hijamah on a Saturday and a Wednesday, he replied," there is nothing wrong with that. I have performed Hijamah on all days. I don't dislike Ḥijamah on any of these days."
المنتقى شرح الموطإ (7/ 295)
It is permissible to do Hiajamah on any day of the year, even Wednesday and Saturday. All those Ahadith that prohibit Hijamah on certain days is unauthentic according to Imam Malik Rahimahullah.
الفواكه الدواني على رسالة ابن أبي زيد القيرواني (2/ 339)
- Imam Nawawi Rahimahullah says, there is no absolute prohibition with regards to cupping on a particular day."
المجموع شرح المهذب (9/ 62)
Ibn Hajar Rahimahullah said, " none of these Ahadith are authentic."
فتح الباري لابن حجر (10/ 150)
Keeping the above in mind, we do not regard it as impermissible to have cupping done on certain days.
Disclaimer
If you wish to abstain from performing Hijamah on those days, you may do so.
And Allah Ta'ala knows best.
{ However, I try to avoid doing hijama on a Wednesday unless it is a very important or Sunnah date.✍️Dr. Saif Ali Sultan } .
